Is Muenster a criminal city?

Münster, the picturesque university city in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region, is known for its vibrant cultural scene and charming old town. But beneath the idyllic facade lies a darker side that some locals and visitors say is cause for concern. Is Muenster a criminal city? In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at the facts and figures to see if there's any truth to the rumors about safety in this beloved German destination.

Is Muenster a criminal city?

Well, after I moved to Muenster a few months, on April 7, 2018, a man drove a van into people sitting in front of a restaurant in the pedestrian zone in the old town. He unfortunately killed four people and injured about 20 others, six of them seriously, before committing suicide. The whole world, including Germany, mistakenly thought that it was terrorism because the authorities did not have enough information about the problem and thought to blame it on Muslims because this time was somehow focused on hating the Islamic religion, when it turned out that it was just a German man who had lost his mind, was mentally ill and decided to get out of this world, but unfortunately he had to take someone with him because he was afraid to go alone or who knows what was going on in his incompetent mind.

Less than a week ago, another crime occurred at the Send Fair, which is held three times a year near the Muenster Castle Schloss Münster.

According to police, the 31-year-old victim and another very young man, who happened to be only 21, got into an argument during a ride on a carousel at the fair, which led to the younger man stabbing the victim with a knife. The victim died at the scene. Police are searching for the suspect and another man who was with him at the time of the attack, as both fled, but fortunately the 21-year-old went to the police accompanied by a lawyer. He is now still being questioned and is expected to stand trial.

There is a place I know personally near the train station that is always full of drug dealers, you can buy just about anything you want here. This place is mainly controlled by Algerians and Moroccans. I have eaten here a couple of times in one of the restaurants until someone got punched and thrown on my table, and I witnessed a couple of guys fighting a guy and beating each other up. But those are just drug dealers fighting just for their money, not a dangerous mental illness. So if you ask me if Muenster is a criminal city, I would not necessarily say it's a criminal city, but there are a lot of people who are not mentally stable, and I do not think it's just in Muenster, I think it's all over Germany, and more here than any other country I have lived in. Just keep an eye out for that corner near the train station or the Banhof in Muenster, and also watch out for the Cocolocos that can be anywhere, and you are good to go.
